About Sendean
We are a small family business that has been running since 1926, with 3 generations still actively involved. Our main service is fixing cameras, although we also run a camera rental service and a camera store. We love all things photographic, and we always go the extra mile for our customers. When it comes to a broken camera, where there’s a will, there’s a way. So don’t despair and let us see what we can do for you!
Meet the Sendean Team
Photographers by nature. Greek at heart.
The Directors
The company directors Demetrios and Patroulla; parents and grandparents to most of the team. They have been at the front and centre of the business for years on end. They even made sure their children spoke fluent photography.
We are sorry to say Demetrios passed away in 2019. The business continues to operate, now also in his honour, built from his skill and love of cameras.
Digital Technicians
This team fixes all the digital equipment, even cameras and lenses that are no longer supported by the manufacturers.
Philip
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Sony A7R Mark III
LOVES: KTM motorbikes, his wife’s amazing cooking, and his home cinema.
Philip used to watch his dad Demetrios repair cameras at the workshop since he was a toddler. He officially joined Sendean after he left university in 2003, where he studied Maths with Theoretical Physics. He is the senior technician focusing mainly on digital cameras. He also manages the store and makes sure everything runs like clockwork.
Jonathan
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Canon EOS 760D, 50mm 1.8 STM
LOVES: skateboarding, Red Bull, and The Office US.
Jonathan started at Sendean years ago and is now one of our main digital technicians. He is also a computer genius and has created several programs for the technicians and front of house guys. He’s self proclaimed “Assistant to the Regional Manager”.
Steven
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Panasonic TZ90
LOVES: volleyball, carpentry and everything Japanese.
Grandson of Demetrios and son of David, he joined the team straight from school. He’s our quietest technician (sometimes we’re not even sure if he’s in the room!) but also our most meticulous. He gets totally absorbed in the repair at hand and doesn’t let anything distract him.
Analogue Technicians
These guys fix all the vintage optics, cine cameras, and retro camera gear.
David
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Canon IV SB
LOVES: cars - both driving them and restoring them, California, and country music.
David’s speciality is analogue cameras. He joined the family (and Sendean) in 1987 when he married Demetrios’ daughter. He’s been known to fix cameras that others just can’t. Restoring cameras back to their former glory is what he does best.
Andrew
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Olympus E-M5 II
LOVES: his electric car, his self built pizza oven, and Kung Pao chicken.
Andrew repairs analogue and cine equipment. He also loves a bit of Polaroid. He loves helping people choose the right vintage camera for them, and giving lessons on how to use it. So if you’re in the market for a new treasure, he’s your man. He’s another son of Demetrios, and has been working at Sendean since 2002. Ni hao. He can also speak Chinese.
Asa
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Olympus OM10, 50mm 1.8
LOVES: playing ice hockey, watching ice hockey, and a tasty Chinese meal.
Asa is one of our analogue technicians and specialises in repairing Canon, Olympus and Pentax 35mm cameras. He’s always happy to help and dedicated to living the Sendream!
Front of House
They take care of the reception area and the phone lines. They love to help out, so just give them a shout if you need anything.
Imogen
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Olympus MJU II
LOVES: travelling, tiramisu, and iced coffee.
Imogen is Sendean’s newest member of the team and she really enjoys photographing her travels around the world! In her spare time, she loves to paint and meet up with her friends.
Jill
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Panasonic TZ40
LOVES: cruises, family holidays, and helping people.
Jill loves to help people out where she can. Jill is like the mum of the Sendean family. Give her a shout if you need anything, or even just a chat!
Kez
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Canon AE-1 Program
LOVES: people, diving into new cultures through travel, speaking Portuguese.
Granddaughter of Demetrios and daughter of David she grew up around cameras. David refurbished a Canon AE-1 Program for her when she was 10 years old - 20 years on it’s still going strong. She makes a mean sandwich too!
Ro
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Pentax SPF, 55mm F2
LOVES: the beach, live music and a good cheeseboard.
At college Ro learnt how to build a camera using a Pringles tube and now enjoys learning about some slightly more advanced cameras. When she’s not at work she can be found browsing local markets with a bagel and boba.
Samuel
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Lubitel 166B
LOVES: travel, photography, and cycling (especially when all 3 are combined!).
Samuel recently moved back to London and really enjoys working in Shoreditch! He has a real passion for analogue photography, because he loves being able to truly capture an authentic moment when we live in a world void of authenticity.
Susie
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Pentax ME Super, 50mm 1.4
LOVES: surfing holidays, trying new foods, and she loves a sale.
Susie is the daughter of Demetrios (and Philip and Andrew’s sister). She doesn’t spend much time in the stores as she sorts out the accounts and admin, but when she does, she loves speaking with customers about their camera. She’s been working at Sendean since 2004.
Tegan
FAVOURITE CAMERA: Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II
LOVES: reading, watching Korean dramas and gözleme.
Tegan has been part of the team for years and has been able to test lots of different cameras during her travels - including when she lived in Istanbul. She’s also shop-wide famous for her hot chocolate making skills.
